Turkish Canadian Chamber of Commerce and Young Entrepreneurs Platform organized "Digital Marketing" Seminar and breakfast event on Saturday, October 25th.

Oguz Sarkut, IT Director of Anatolian Heritage Federation (http://www.anatolianheritage.ca), spoke the use of Digital Marketing focusing on small and mid-size companies. Oguz Sarkut mentioned about the importance of having a marketing strategy before starting digital media marketing. Also he explained following topics:

Sunnybrook Park

Sunday Breakfast at Sunnybrook Park

We wanted to have our breakfast at outside on Sunday. We wanted to have some simit (Turkish bagels) and Turkish tea. Luckily there is a place called The Great Canadian Bagel at 256 Laird Dr Toronto, selling simit (Turkish bagel).

Soccer at Friday Nights

We are playing soccer at Friday Nights after Reading Club. We beat university students last week and I am not sure if they are going to play against us again! It has been ages, may be 10 years since I played indoor soccer last time. It is a good exercise and good time when you play with good friends. But it is the best when you win :)

Ashbridge's Bay Park

We decided to go out for a walk on beautiful September Sunday. It was like 20C outside. I found Ashbridge's Bay Park online.  It is in Beaches, just little bit East of downtown, 4 km after DVP. There were plenty of parking space and it was all free. There was a nice jogging trail and a beach next to the park. We came across with some friends too.

Texas - Houston Trip

I have been planning to visit Texas for a long time since many of my class-mates moved there after graduation. Texas is one of the most favorite state for Turkish students to go to have their Master's degrees and work after. Ahmet is one of them. He has been inviting to me Texas for years but I got the chance to visit him last week.

I also had a chance to visit the Turkish Cultural Center in Houston, which is called Raindrop Turkish House. I don't know how they renamed it but it looked like a word-to-word translation from Turkish. I hope it makes sense to people.

Great Minds of Islam

Dicle Islamic Society is organizing a seminar about Bediuzzaman Said Nursi & Allama Muhammad Iqbal on Saturday, September 20th. The name of the seminar is Great Minds of Islam in 20th Century. Event will be at UofT St. Michael College 81 St Mary St Father Madden Hall Toronto, ON M5S 1J4.

Prof. Dr. Zeki Saritoprak will introduce Bediuzzaman Said Nursi and Dr. Al-Nadvi will introduce Allama Muhammad Iqbal. President of the Olive Tree Foundation Muneeb Nasir will moderate the event.

Turkic Canadian Convention

We are organizing Second Turkic Canadian Convention. It was a great success last year. Personally I had a chance to meet many community leaders from different Turkic backgrounds and many politician, which is expected in Ottawa! Although it was a long trip to Ottawa from Toronto in December, I am looking forward to it this year too!

This year Turkic Convention will start with Welcome Reception on Sunday, November 2nd. Panels and Gala will be on Monday which is November 3rd.
